How wide can a single large-opening screen be?

Our VistaView and SmartScreen systems cover openings up to 29–30 feet wide and 16 feet tall. For even larger walls, multiple units can be stacked.

Do large-opening screens hold up in wind?

Yes. The captured-mesh system locks the mesh into side tracks, which prevents blowouts in gusty coastal conditions common around the Lower Mainland.

Can the housing be hidden?

Yes. The roller and tracks can be recessed during construction or renovation for a fully discrete finish. Plan this with your builder and our team during the design stage.

Are large-opening screens motorized?

They can be. SmartScreen is motorized with a Somfy motor and remote or app control; VistaView is manually operated for the same wide-span coverage.

Large Opening Screens

Large Opening Screens up to 29 ft wide

Patios, lanais, garages and oversized sliding walls demand screens that standard retail sizes simply can't cover. Bloombug Screens builds custom large-opening retractable screens — from wide French door assemblies to spans up to 29 feet — so you can enjoy the view without the bugs.

Our large-opening systems use captured-mesh technology: the mesh is welded to zippers that lock into side tracks, preventing blowouts, tearing and gaps even on wide spans in coastal winds. Housings can be surface-mounted or recessed during construction for a fully seamless finish.

For the biggest openings, the motorized SmartScreen covers up to 30 ft wide and 16 ft tall with a quiet Somfy motor and smart-home integration. For manually operated wide openings, the VistaView delivers the same captured-mesh performance without the motor.
