Zebra blinds (also called transitional or dual-layer shades) have alternating sheer and opaque horizontal bands on a single loop of fabric. As you adjust them, the bands align for clear view or overlap for privacy and blackout. You get two light levels from one shade without a separate sheer layer.
Roller shades are a single flat panel of fabric that rolls up on a tube. Choose the fabric opacity — sheer, light-filtering or blackout — and the shade is either down or up, with one light level per fabric.
