Custom screens are priced per opening, and five factors move the number up or down. Understanding them helps you compare quotes fairly.
1. Size (square footage)
The biggest driver. Screens are priced largely by area, so a large patio-door screen costs several times a small bathroom window. Oversized openings may also need reinforced frames.
2. Mesh type
Standard fibreglass is the baseline. No-see-um, pet, solar and ember-resistant meshes each carry an upgrade, reflecting the stronger or finer materials. Pet and ember mesh are the most significant jumps but pay back in durability.
3. Frame and hardware
Heavier-gauge aluminium frames, custom colours and corrosion-resistant hardware cost more but last longer. Spring, clip and spline hardware varies by window type.
4. Quantity
Like most custom work, per-unit cost falls as quantity rises. A whole-home refresh costs less per screen than a single replacement, thanks to setup and measurement efficiency.
5. Service level
Pick up the screens and install them yourself for the lowest price. Add measurement-only service, or full measure-and-install, and the price rises with the labour.
Getting a fair quote
A real quote lists the mesh, frame, hardware and service for each opening — not a single lump sum. Ask for that breakdown so you can compare apples to apples. Request a quote from us and you'll get exactly that, per window.
